The Scoot we know today is the result of a merger of Scoot Singapore Pte Ltd and Tiger Airways. In 2015, Sennex was commissioned to design and build their first office in Terminal 3. In 2016 and 2017, we were tasked to further expand on that space to accommodate the merger with Tiger Airways. Sennex is proud to be the interior designer of choice for Scoot and to assist them with their continued expansion, growing together from strength to strength!

KEY CHALLENGES

Scoot was located in Terminal 1 when we first met them, and they had inherited an office designed by their parent company SIA. It was dated, and unconducive, both in terms of functionality and energy – which was key due to their conviction to operate in true start-up fashion. Another key challenge was that the office was located in the basement, which had clunky Mechanical and Electrical systems, resulting in 2 things – a lack of natural light, and a very low ceiling.

DESIGN SOLUTIONS

To counter those problems, Sennex stripped the ceilings, painted them black to create the illusion of a much larger space, and installed Acoustic Panels in the shape of “planes” strategically to soak up the sounds which would have been significant due to the number of persons in the space. We further installed “Sky Lights”, which had LED lights shining through translucent images of the sky printed on them bringing the “outdoors” into the office. This was complemented by a patterned green wall which encircled the pantry. To top it off with a strong dose of Scoot Branding, the Skylights were shaped to form S, C, O, O, T, and prints of the first planes that Scoot flew were installed on the green wall – a nod towards the rich heritage and humble beginnings of the airline.

All in all, Scoot’s partnership with Sennex through the years has been a fruitful and enjoyable one for both parties. Scoot’s continued patronage is a testament to the creativity, determination and reliability of Sennex.
